    Better than the Movie!

Saying something is better than Dustin Hoffman's career low, Ishtar (1987), is still saying something. There isn't a lounge act at Ishtar (restaurant) however there is Mediterranean food, fairly good and a strong value proposition.

Ishtar is busy even hectic. At 8PM on a Tuesday night there was a constant flow of people across the spectrum. Everyone from street people grabbing a quick bite, couples out on a date, families with kids and well dressed business people grabbing take-away. Not to mention an endless stream of delivery drivers, Ishtar appears to do a strong Grub Hub/Door Dash business.

The food itself was good, some parts great. The baba ganoush was smokey and flavorful. The hummus was also tasty. I was especially pleased by the side salad, usually an afterthought this was nicely made with shredded carrot, nicely dressed topped with cheese. The kabob meats were also excellent as were the grilled tomatoes on the Lulu plate.

However there was room for improvement in few areas as well. The grilled onion (2 large wedges) while nicely grilled on the outer leaves were entirely uncooked inside. The pitas were mild and bit dry and the ground meat mixture while solid wasn't exceptional.

Most of the reviews mentioned the value proposition (aka price). I think I concur with the consensus review opinion. The prices are low, but the serving sizes are moderate-small, at least that was the case for my take-away.

Finally, probably the main concern I have is they do run the edge of cleanliness/maintenance. The parking lot had an excessive amount of trash, the restaurant dining area was slow (no bussing in 15 minutes with several uncleared tables). Finally their last health inspection was "Okay" (which really isn't).

The food was amazing and the cashier was genuinely nice. The food was good as well very flavorful my only gripe was the rice I felt like it was missing a tad bit of flavor. The portion sizes were ok and the place I think would be great to have a sit in dinner. The price was kind of steep but, the food and service were great minus the rice. Oh btw, I ordered a plate with various meats and a gyro.

Love their gyro salad and lamb tikka! Great service. Their ground beef/ lamb Kabab is also delicious.

  • *****

    Great Value!

Staff is friendly, the menu is varied, the portions generous and the taste excellent. Prices are good too. Worth a stop if you're in the area.

  • *****

Went here again this weekend. The lulu kebab was delicious and the gyros the kids ate were generous portions. The yellow rice here is so fragrant and aromatic. Not too expensive either.

This place makes great Mediterranean food and it is at a reasonable price. The owners are not Greek. I think they are from Iran or Iraq, but their food is outstanding. I have had some problems with the male wait staff, but the ladies are fabulous. Need a quick vegan meal? These folks have that too, and it is cheap. I miss this place now that I live in Puyallup.

The Gyro plate was decent. The flavor was good, it wasn't dry, but it seemed to be missing something. The Greek salad & hummus was great! No complaints there. The pistachio & regular baklava was amazing as well: Some of the best I've ever had. I really want to like this place so I will be back!

  • *****

Delicious food and well priced. The staff was friendly and the food was served quickly. I had the lamb schwarma sandwich. The meat was delicious. The hummus was also quite tasty. I will definitely be back.

    Another delicious visit to Ishtar's.
This time I had the gyro plate. The entree came with a starter of hummus and salad and pita. Again, bomb hummus, and the salad had the most delicious delicate dressing. Hints of lemon. Just lovely.
The gyro meat was tender, flavorful and plentiful. The tzatziki was great. Not too tart. The rice was okay.

  • *****

Muy bueno. Had an iftar there in 2017. Good portions. Had to take away the rest of the food even if we were fasting all day. Recommended.

I go to this establishment regularly and always enjoy the food and the service by the folks who run it.

I have never had anything bad, Kebab, Falafel, Gyros, so so good!

  • *****

The felafel had good texture. I would have liked larger sides for my $10 veggie plate

They have a really great middle eastern food here. I'm writing more because it says I need to but there isn't much else to say. They have really damn good Greek and middle eastern food.

  • *****

Excellent food, great service, courteous staff. My family and I dine here often and every time it's been consistent

Dined in for lunch. The place is located on the east side of the valley, by railroad and the surrounding is little dicey. The place is old and the ambiance is typical of any Mediterranean restaurant. On one side, there is a feel of sitting in a hut-like setting. The food if really good. Did Baba Ghanouj, Garlic Fries, Chicken Shawarma, Leg and Falafel platters, and finally all three deserts on the menu. Baba ghanouj and hummus were very good. The eggplant has a charred flavor, hummus thickness is just perfect. The platters were all good with falafel very fresh and chicken juicy. The deserts were cold and very sweet, a bit high. Had the deserts been warmer, it'd have been even better. The service was very good and the people were very friendly, customer-centric. I'd defiant recommend this place for good middle eastern food.

Very friendly service and the food is delicious! The lady was very helpful in helping me sign up for their rewards program even though it was busy! I told her I would do it later but she insisted I do it to get a free baklava!!! So nice!

  • *****

Food was great, if you like taziki sauce make sure to order some on the side. They don't put much on the gyro. Guy behind the counter was very nice. Will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

  • *****

Yummy food, quick friendly service. Had the gyros, chicken shawarma and hummus. All delicious.

  • *****

Delicious, authentic and fresh. One of the best Mediterranean restaurants I have been to. I had the veggie platter and can say that the hummus and dolmas were great. Can not recommend high enough.

  • *****

    Amazing Food
    Lovely customer service
great food at a great price.
Loved the kebab plates as well as the sandwiches. Love this place!

  • *****

So worth the drive! I was craving falafels and these totally hit the spot. The baba ganoush and hummus was on point. I got my son a gyro combo, and it was so packed with meat he barely finished it. Mind you this kid is 15 and growing with a bottomless pit for a stomach. He absolutely loved it. They've got a customer for life!

  • *****

With my husband we love come in here. Food is amazing, servers are always kind, respectful, and go the extra mile. This is one of my favorite places to eat! Kuddos

  • *****

This place is always so good, fresh, and cooked to order. They place is a little ran down but I promise you they will not disappoint! Staff is always friendly!!

  • *****

Food was amazing! Staff was super friendly. Left a great impression. I will definitely come back anytime we're in town.

  • *****

I would totally give this place a 5 because the food is slamming. Sadly the customer service is not. I have had a few inconsistencies that sometimes make me want to forfeit the place altogether. Other than that omg soooo good.

  • *****

So.... I made my wife and kids come here and try some new foods. You should have seen my 13 year old daughter's face when she looked through the menu. Her, and my younger daughter didn't know what most of the dishes were or would taste like. Now they have tried many of the foods and this has become a family favorite for us! Great service, fair prices, fresh ingredients, good portions.

Just great Gyros. Soft succulent meat, crispy fries

  • *****

So glad we found this place on Yelp/Eat24. When I have the craving for gyros and hummus, I make the drive to Kent. It's easy to order online but the staff haven't been consistent on being ready at the designated pick-up time, and sometimes I order the sandwich and get a plate (and sadly vice versa). However, this doesn't stop me from dinning here. Nom nom nom.

    + Hummus
+ Lamb shawarma - this is definitely different than the gyro
+ Gyro sandwich - simple on the go (better pita bread than the salad)
+/- gyro salad - comes with thin pita
+/- gyro plate - one came with hummus, the other came with baba ghannouj (confused)

I know we've ordered the kebabs before but not memorable compared to the lamb shawarma.

  • *****

I went to Ishtar Cuisine a few days ago with my friend that was in town. The lunch specials ranged from $7-$15 depending on what you were ordering. I ordered a lamb shawarma wrap with fries and my friend ordered a kebab wrap with fries.

The wrap itself was good it included lettuce, tomato, hummus and the lamb meat. However, there was not a lot of lamb meat in my wrap. I realize that it was only $7 but I would've paid more to get a better helping. My friend got the kebab wrap which came with meat that was more of a mince or patty. I was a bit jealous of hers because it had more protein in it!

The fries were good but unfortunately the drink it came with was flat. This is common across many restaurants though, they neglect to change out their flavorings in the soda machine. Overall, I would try Ishtar again but only if I was getting the kebab because the other wraps just don't come with enough protein.

  • *****

I love a good gyro, and this place has them!
The baklava almost put me to sleep, it was so rich. My only hang up for it not to be 5 stars is that it's not fancy. I don't need it to be fancy but I'd hope it would eventually get some upgrades. I'll keep coming here and supporting them so they can get those upgrades and not look so dated. Nice staff.

  • *****

Great fresh food, fast friendly service. Would definitely come back when I'm in the area. Owner Ammar is cool and cares about customer service. Wish prices were just a bit less :)

just alright awesome!!!!!! everyone should go and eat here at least once.....

  • *****

Best Greek food in the area, beef lamb kebab my favor dish.

  • *****

Friendly environment, fresh delicious food with reasonable price.
    It's my favorite place.

  • *****

Great place and great ambiance. Ordered the platter and it was amazing. Definitely a place to hangout with family and friends, they have hookah bar right next door.

  • *****

Favorite take out in Kent! Although occasionally I have to wait a while for my order, the quality is exceptional every time.

  • *****

My family and I love this place. A diamond in the rough! Their hummus is so smooth, their beef kebab is so tasty and juicy. I like to order the Lulu Kebab with grilled onion and tomato. Try any of their meat or falafel dipped with a side of amba sauce (pickled mango).

  • *****

I had the Chicken Tikka and the hummus was awesome and the baklava was so tasty! Prices are affordable as well! I haven't had this good of Greek & Mediterranean food for a while! Thank you for the amazing food!!!

  • *****

Great food. Fast delivery. Helpful service. Everything at the right temp and full of flavor. Quiet atmosphere, you don't realize you're next to the road. Will eat here again.

  • *****

We've passed this place by countless times and finally decided to try it out. Glad we did.

I think I've found my new favorite Mediterranean restaurant in the area. We ordered the gyro dinner plate, eggplant/beef stew, and the kebab dinner plate. Each dinner comes with a salad and hummus/pita bread.

The hummus here is ammmmaaazzziinnnggg. We literally licked it clean off our plate. The kebabs were so flavorful and juicy... the eggplant/beef stew was filling and delicious. Service was spot on, the two gentlemen here are very friendly. We took a baklava to go and mmmmm, wished we had gotten a few more.

Check this place out for authentic and tasty Greek/Mediterranean food.

  • *****

We go once a week for dinner! always fast and friendly service. We love the food, especially the chicken kebab. Keep up the great work.

  • *****

The foods were aewsome, and the customer service was extremely good, i really enjoyed been at the facilities,

  • *****

This place is amazing. So far, many Mediterranean establishments have been a disappointment but Ishtar has definitely set the bar. I have been going here for three years and have always been very happy with their gyro and shwarmas (need to try other things there). I dropped in today and they were super busy, good for them. Provide the people good food and they will come. You are far from me but I will be back.

  • *****

$5 gyros to go. They give a decent amount of meat in them too. The sauce was good. They wrapped the to go order well so none of the toppings came out of the gyros and all the sauce was distributed evenly. The employees were mostly teenagers. I really liked the greek decor as well

  • *****

Food is so bomb here. I always order the veggie sambosas and an order of fries! Sooo good! If you come for lunch, try the gyro lunch combo! Gyros have so much meat in them and its all so good! The food is priced well and always consistent!

  • *****

This is by far the best middle eastern food, I have ever tasted. Excellent hummus, kubba and kabab. Very friendly and very helpful staff. I tried the potato kubba and it was to die for, hummus was very smooth and very good texture. You will get more food for very reasonable prices. I will definitely be there every time I visit the area.

  • *****

Close to home and best Gyros around. Friendly staff, makes me surprised at all the negative reviews? I'm going to keep eating here!

  • *****

Hands down the best Middle Eastern / Mediterranean food in the greater Seattle area. I remember when this used to be an A&W, what an upgrade to have Ishtar in this spot. The food is so delicious we make regular visits from West Seattle to eat here. Very affordable you can try many different dishes and have tons of leftovers to enjoy throughout the week. Also a bonus - it's a friendly place to eat with kids.

  • *****

Food is always good, lots of options. Wait time can be a little long. Have not had the best experiences with staff, they always seem to busy/overworked and not happy to be there.

  • *****

$5 lamb (or any other meat too) gyros?! YES PLEASE! This is my fianc's and my favorite place to go! It's cheap and the food it soooo good. Staff is really kind and friendly. I can't emphasize how delicious the food is.

Want to make it a meal? Add $2 and you get a drink and regular fries or parmesan garlic fries! How amazing is that?!

We've only discovered this place 3 weeks ago and we've been here 4 times already!

  • *****

Amazing!! Delicious, family friendly and great people. The meats, salads, soups...everything is amazing

  • *****

I absolutely love this place. The service and vibe here is always welcoming and friendly and authentic. I have been coming here for 3+ years since I moved to the area and always have a consistent experience. Thank you Ishtar- Grateful for your presence in Kent

  • *****

Great little find after a long day of moving. My family is new to the Kent area and stopped by for lunch. The service was ok but the food was amazing! Great gyros and the tzatziki was perfectly paired with the gyro and fries. Definitely a new go to place for cheap and authentic food!

  • *****

Food and service is great. The place doesn't look like a whole lot from the outside but is comfy inside. I have been extremely impressed with the food from quality and quantity. I ordered online last time and they had my food ready within about 10 minutes which was great!

  • *****

Best food ever. I love this place. Great food, service, and prices.highly recommend Ishtar for everybody who loves middleastren food

  • *****

The best place I have found in a long time for Mediterranean and Greek food. Very friendly staff. I will go back every time that I'm in the area!

  • *****

Amazing food. We eat here everytime we are in town. Baba is perfect. Good gyros and loved the kabobs.

  • *****

Great Mediterranean food! Simple, clean, tasteful and the customer service was great.

Stopped here on a last minute turn into the parking lot and I am glad I did.

The menu was nicely balanced with plenty of options to choose from yet didn't bog me down with too many choices.

I ordered the mixed kabobs plate and split the hummus app and I walked away with food left over.

The meat on the kebabs was cooked perfectly and the flavors were sanctimoniously in line with the Mediterranean vibe and culture. The rice was good, the pitas were good and the hummus was spot on.

The restaurant itself lacked a bit of a restaurant feel. The place was an old carhop that they are hijacking and calling it a restaurant. It could use a better makeover for sure but the style isn't set as an upscale establishment either so they aren't trying to act like something they aren't. It is what it is, but, I think it would be cool to drop some cash on the place and see them pump out to a whole other level!

What I liked?: great food, fast service, good service, decent pricing

What I didn't like?: the restaurant, it could use a makeover.

  • *****

I regularly drive 35 mins each way to have food here. I like their kebabs, wraps and sandwiches. Every entree comes with complimentary salad, pita and hummus/babaganoush. The prices are pleasantly cheap. The only improvement i would suggest is about the rice they serve, which is often dried and not cooked very well.

  • *****

The food is amazing. The prices are so affordable. We will definitely be back for more!

  • *****

Their gyro plate is my favorite. I love their rice, hummus and pita bread. I've tried a few of their other entrees and they were alright such as the lulu, lamb kebob, and lamb tikka. The salad could be better, it's sometime is wilted. Better food than at other places that I've tried.

I had the difficult task of finding a special meal for an extremely important business meeting in which one of our guests who can only eat gluten free. I knew Mediterranean food was safe for a gluten free diet but the major problem is I am not from the area. In fact, I do not live in Washington. I work and live in Orange County, CA and had to find a cater who was willing to drive out 30 - 40 minutes outside of Kent, WA.

After spending over an hour looking on YELP and EZ Cater, I found Ishtar Greek & Mediterranean and noticed they had great reviews. And thank God I found them because my boss and his clients who are also from California LOVED THE FOOD. Ishtar was a hit!! My boss said it was the best Mediterranean food he ever ate.

Thank You Olli and your team for making me look like a Super Star! I wish I could thank you in person but since I can't at least I can provide you with a great write up.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! You guys are the BEST!

  • *****

The beef and lamb kebab skewers were amazing. I have never had such good kebab for only $10. Plus it came with a side of hummus salad and pita bread.it just doesn't get any better

  • *****

Yummy lamb gyros!!! I've eaten here multiple times. I just tried a baklava (dessert), and it was great as well. Good service.

  • *****

A great addition to Kents diverse ethnic cuisine, Ishtar brings the calm and soul warming food of the Middle East. It's a stark contrast to the upheaval in the region but a firm reminder of what peace time life could have been. A must visit.

  • *****

My bestfriend and I have been here twice now. Being completely honest, the first time around we weren't that impressed at all. The second time around though we were. The key here is to stick with their grilled meat dishes, those are very tasty! Their other food is okay. Their prices all together are decent. The ambiance of the location is nice, particularly if you're a Muslim (like myself) you'll appreciate much of the decor and the music. The staff are very helpful but not the friendliest (which I'm assuming is cultural). All in all it's a good place to check out if you want some Mediterranean food while in the Kent area.

  • *****

Ishtar recently catered a large event I attended. The food was delicious and very fresh. Everyone's plates were practically licked clean. It's downright craveable, because I'm having a major hankering for their baba ganoushj and Greek salad. My only regret is that they are located in Kent and I live a hour away.

  • *****

Love this place - have had lunch here (dine in and take out) with co-workers and it is fast and great food. We have come here for dinner with friends and this year we celebrated two birthdays there and they accommodated a table for 10 nicely, despite the restaurant dining area being small. The food is some of the best Greek we have had. Not just the traditional Lamb Kabobs, Hummus and Gyros either - their halibut was delicious. Cathy

  • *****

Fantastic drop-in for lunch! Have never been here but was driving by for work and stopped in on a whim because kebabs sounded good. Ordered the Iraqi style plate: two lamb and beef kebabs that were tender and delicious, fresh salad, hummus, olives, roasted onion and tomato and more fresh veggies. Also comes with bread, which I omitted only because of a new slow carb diet I am on.

Super delicious! I will be back to try more of the menu- thank you!

  • *****

Prompt service! The food is also delicious. You have to tell them to make it spicy if you really want more flavor!

  • *****

We decided to try it. And boy it did not disappoint. We ordered the Baba ghannouj . appetizer which is much better than hummus in my opinion, 2 gyro subs (tons of meat), one Iraq kabob plate 2 beef and lamb kabobs and a Lulu kabob plate. All of this for under $50 and easily will feed four or five people. Give it a try. It's where the old A&W was on the corner of central avenue. We are excited to try the lamb shank next. Don't pass this place up!

  • *****

Great (halal) food, huge portions, great prices, quick service. Would highly recommend this place.

  • *****

Great service and even better food. My only complaint is that the establishment is a little small and can often get too crowded. However I'd say that is only a testament to the quality reputation of Ishtar. I highly recommend!

  • *****

I got hooked on this place because the Groupon was too good of a deal. We came here around 7 and the place was somewhat busy but they were efficient. We ordered a table full of that inexpensive yet super delicious. This place looks like one of old school diners from the outside but the looks serve no justice to this place. It does appear to ran by a family from Iraq I believe wit the menu that is enticing yet a tad dated. This definitely a go to for meal when nothing sounds good.

  • *****

Love the food, prices and service. People are friendly. The kabab is the BEST & the lamb.

  • *****

Pro's: Fresh ingredients, the flavor of the lamb is good, and the portion sizes ok for the price. They have fast service and consistently tasty food.

I usually have the Gyro Salad, and my husband has Chicken and Rice. I'm not very picky but he is and it's one of three places that he will eat out at.

They have put a lot of effort (and probably money) into upgrades, making it a nice dining experience, and I appreciate that.

Con's: The sauce and salad dressing are acidic and sharp (I wish it were more Chicago style and creamy without the vinegar taste), and occasionally the meat is dry.

It's probably cultural but they are strictly business, no smiles, no joy, or eye contact. Makes me a little nervous.

I'm glad they are around and hope the business flourishes.

  • *****

We ordered sambosa platter, lamb shank & Iraqi kabab. Entree comes with hummus, salad & pita bread. Portion size is really good, more than enough. But I felt a little lack of salt and spices, so I ate them with a spicy ketchup. Food are really good! Recommend!

  • *****

Placed was packed, food was yummy. We had great service even with it being busy. I got lamb tikka the taste was great, slightly over cooked but it was still really good. My husband got lamb and beef kabobs and that was amazing. It was ground meat with onions and some amazing spices. Both came with humus, flat bread, and salad. Great value! We will be back.

  • *****

My friend took me here twice. The experience has always been the same. The food was good. The wait was not. I really hope that they would improve the customer service then they would be excellent.

  • *****

Authentic Mediterranean cuisine in an old drive-in? Yep! There is plenty of familiar fare, from Gyros to Spanakopita to Baklavah. All the menu items are Halal-observant - fresh and of high quality.
The rundown exterior will fool you - once inside, the dining area is crisp, bright, clean and modern. Service is friendly, and preparations are meticulous. Even a simple side salad gets special attention here.

  • *****

Amazing food and friendly service. I've seen this place as many other restaurants in the years I've lived in Kent, but I really hope Ishtar is able to make it!

  • *****

Took the kids out to eat here last Friday. It was great! Their hummus was some of the best I've ever had, delicious marinated grilled meats. Service was quick and friendly. They even brought out a small plate of simple vegetables and olives for my picky four year old. Interior is spare but clean. I'll go again!

  • *****

I love Greek, and if you do too, you'll love Ishtar. We've seen several restaurants come and go at this location, mostly known for being the old A&W drive-in - but this is the first that truly deserves to stay. Everything is fresh and homemade. The owner was friendly and attentive. Prices were reasonable, and the servings were plentiful. Overall, we both were ready to come back and try some more the next day. Yum!

  • *****

We visited on a Tuesday evening. There were two other groups in the restaurant eating at the time and a number of cars doing take out. The waiter promptly seated us and brought water.

The first thing I'd comment on is the ambiance- one of the reviewers jokingly listed this as a dressy restaurant, which it is not. The building definitely is not spectacular from the outside (but nothing in Kent is newer then 50 years old, other than the Station) and the inside was equally underwhelming.

Go there expecting a fast food ambiance but a big leap up in food flavor and quality.

We ordered a lamb kabob entree and a gyro entree.

Bear in mind, all you who are familiar with American style fast food gyros- they are not traditionally served wrapped up in pita with all the garnishes included. The gyro meat is served over pilaf rice with pita bread, tsatsiki, and vegetables on the side. The meat was quite good, well seasoned and the proportions were great. Absolutely no complaints on the freshness of vegetables or sauce or pita bread.

My wife had the lamb entree, which was definitely a five star dish for this type of ambiance. Perfectly seasons, perfectly cooked, and with a nice grill char to the cut edges of the meat, it really felt like a great value.

I'd highly recommend this- food came quick, hot, and tasted great, and it was light on the pocket book ($9.00 for a good size, flavorful, cooked to order entree is much better than $8.50 for a large Big Mac meal in my book).

  • *****

My boyfriend and I stopped by Ishtar's on Sunday for lunch. The restaurant used to be an old drive-up joint, but has since changed owners several times.
It was completely empty when we arrived, but the server was very sweet and helpful. We ordered two gyros, and some hummus as an appetizer. The hummus and pita was great! Not to mention, they brought a container of house-made spicy sauce (very similar to the chili paste you get in chinese restaurants) which we both loved so much we had to buy a container. When we asked the server how it was made, since he didn't know, he went back to the chef and the chef actually came out and talked with us for a little while!
The gyros were very good as well, and the food was relatively cheap, so I'd definitely recommend it for lunches. I think that with a little work on the inside to make it look less like a fast food place, it could do really well.

  • *****

We really enjoyed it. Sitting area is nice and clean, food was delicious. Chicken tikka had a flavorful charcoal taste to it. Chicken sandwich was extra yummy with the grilled onions and bell pepper. Host was very helpful and friendly. Best of it, is its all Halal.

  • *****

Just had lunch today with my wife and 14 yrs. old son.
The place is decent. The server friendly and prompt. The gyros are excellent, plenty of meat, fresh and tasty. Humus, salad, a hot homemade salsa was very good. None of us could finish all we had, took half home. Will definitely go back.
Four and 1/2 star in the category

  • *****

Great food, good prices and a friendly owner. This is my new favorite Mediterranean restaurant.

  • *****

Cheaper, fast and decent food. Very nice for a quick gyro or schwarma fix.

  • *****

Great food and a good value!

This place is kinda sketchy looking from the outside: it's an old, run-down looking former A&W Drive-In building at a busy intersection in an ugly part of Kent (are there any other parts of Kent?). I had passed this restaurant by a number of times without giving it much thought until it was highlighted by a Living Social 'deal of the day'. I must say, I'm really glad I finally stopped in!

Thanks to Living Social's requirement to use up the entire coupon value in one visit, I actually got two meals here at once. I had the gyro with fries and a soda on site plus a falafel and a Greek salad for later-- all of which was excellent. I also enjoyed their home made hot sauce, brought to the table in a little jar along with the paper-lined plastic basket that contained all the gyro and french fry yumminess.

Prices are quite reasonable here: gyros and other sandwiches are $5 + $2 more with fries and a drink. Entrees are $9-$14. Daily specials are also available. Service was pretty quick, too.

Really, about the only reasons I'm not giving Ishtar a 5th star are the location and the restroom (messy, no paper towels, and REALLY stinky when I was here). But oh well, guess you can't have everything!

  • *****

They have really good gyros and it comes a good price for a meal with fries and a drink. the best part about this place was the desert though. it was amazingly good

  • *****

A Living Social offer alerted us to the existence of this hidden gem in Kent. The last time we were in the building, it was a decaying A&W Root Beer place filled with youth soccer teams. Now it is a wonderful Halal Greek/Mediterranean restaurant patronized by a multicultural clientele. We were quickly seated by our gracious hostess. Around us were families and groups conversing in a several different languages.

My companion ordered the Mixed Tikka Kebab, and I had the Grilled Chicken Leg. The appetizer, included in the entree, was worth the price of the meal: a generous supply of real pita, accompanied by hummus and Bab Ghannouj (roasted eggplant dip) with their signature hot sauce. Extraordinary.

The entrees were also very tasty. My dinner companion, a lamb connoisseur, was happy; and I must say my chicken was perfectly done. I have almost given up on eating chicken out because of the quality of the chicken and the quality of the cooking that you usually see; but I had clearly made the right choice this time.

The cook stopped by briefly to check on the meal. Much appreciated!

The only issue was the atmosphere and the neighborhood. There is too much of the decaying A&W legacy still evident, and the neighborhood ambiance is early industrial. That doesn't bother us, but it may discourage some.

Great service! We came in near closing and we had the whole restaurant to ourselves (my aunt, uncle, mom, dad, boyfriend and myself). The food was delicious and tasted like it should. The server even gave extra hummus since we had 6 people. The server was kind enough to make recommendations and finish our meal off with chai tea with cardamom. Really hit the spot and it was my mom's first time eating that style of greek food. She's used to the fancy seafood restaurant with a greek taste but not a straight up greek cuisine. It was very good and exactly what I had in mind. The place is small and used to be another restaurant, the building wasn't well maintained but pretty clean looking inside and where they don't spend for fancy dining room and plates you get that value in the food.

  • *****

As others have said, this place is run-down on the outside but the food is great and so is the service. I had the hummus platter (I think) and there were generous proportions. The second time I went I had the chicken kebab sandwich, which was also very yummy. The staff are very friendly and the prices are low. Great deal.

  • *****

Was running errands and decided to give it a shot. It was much better than I thought it would be.

I had the GYRO combo. It comes with tasty fries and a large coke. It was delicious. I could barely finish the gyro. Lots of meat and veggies smothered with a great cucumber sauce. For $6.99 you can't go wrong. Ill definitely be back. Also the server who I think is the owner is very friendly.

Check it out, if you enjoy greek but don't want to travel to Seattle this is the spot for sure!!

  • *****

My husband said this would be greek fast-food so I went in with low expectations. I was surprised by how clean the dining area was (judging by the outside), impressed by the service, and the food was delicious!

My daughter ordered a Gyro platter, I had the Falafel plate, and my husband ordered a Kebab mix plate. I'd have to say that the Kebab plate was the best! The meat was cooked perfectly and it came on a bed of seasoned rice. Some reviewers mentioned the salad dressing "swimming" and I noticed that he offered it on the side. I assume to cater to people's concerns about too much or too little of dressing. They also offer "greek fries" with the gyro plates, which are covered in crumbled feta...mmmmm.

$4.99 gyro specials?! That's cheaper then a latte! I agree with other reviewers about this being a great lunch place however they are open until 10pm and in Kent that's rare (unless you want pizza/hamburgers). My advice is to try it at lunch time and go in with realistic expectations.

  • *****

The gyros are very good and filling. I call in and order to go. The food is always ready when I show up and they are nice. I wouldn't get the shawarma to go because it is very oily and saturates the pita. Maybe they are better if served on a plate.

  • *****

I only went here because of the rating. And I was not disappointed. The food is very good and the hummus is GREAT... Wow... Never had fresher tasting hummus.

Their prices are are right on for the quality and amount of food you receive. If they were in a nicer place, they would get a higher rating, But, if it were nicer, it would probably cost more too.

The place looks like it was on old A&W... Don't let that scare you away. It's clean and had very good food.

  • *****

This place is fantastic. Its too bad they dont deliver. Better than crappy Spiros. The meat is tender, the flavor is so good. Prices are reasonable and best of all your not lured in by a stripper dressed in a belly dancing outfit getting dollar bills.

  • *****

I use to have great middle eastern / meditarean food when I lived in Paris and this is the closest I've seen around Seattle.

It's very authentic and very well made. Most of the food is made in house and even the vegetarian dishes are delicious. Even something as simple as humus is probably the best I ever had.

Fallafel, Gyros and lamb dishes are great as well (properly cooked, not too much, tender meat)

Yummy deserts too, bakhlava and other yummy nutty stuff :)

I had such bad memories of the old dirty A&W that was there before that I didn't try this place for a long time, but they dd a great job restoring the place too.

Ha yeah one more thing, they make there own hot sauce, on a real roasted peppers base ans it's awesome, full of flavor ! I think they sell that in a bottle too.

So basically healthy, authentic & delicious.

  • *****

Look out Spiro's, there's a new gyro in town and it's cheaper and far better as well. Finally checked out this place and I was impressed. The gyro meat was perfectly seasoned, moist and tender. They really cleaned up this old place too. Check it out for lunch, turn your kids onto fresh healthy food and skip the clown burgers and deep fried salty chicken down the street. Then have a solid piece of baklava with walnuts and you'll be a hero (gyro)!

  • *****

Few of us went for a late lunch and I thought the food and service was awesome. I was told the owner is Iraqi and the young waitresses were Turkish, very pleasant. The amount of food and pricing was great. Our only complaint was the rice was a bit on the dry side, but when we requested a sauce to go with it she gave us tatziki sauce and problem solved. Also their hot sauce was very well liked by my Indopak friends and they praised it very well. I had a shake with my lunch and it was perfect.
    Definitely will come again.

  • *****

Quick service, delicious kabobs and rice, and friendly staff. Be sure to take advantage of the yelp check in and get a free baklava. It's delicious!

  • *****

Food was great and arrived in massive portions.
Everything was affordable, the man who waited on us was extremely friendly and made the extra effort to make us happy. When I showed him I had checked in (to get the free baklava with my entree), he extended it to my husband's entree as well. The hummus and baba ghannouj (my first time trying the latter) were also great. Establishment was clean - deceiving on the outside. Will definitely be back for more!

  • *****

Got a groupon for this place ($15 for $30) based on the reviews here on yelp. The place didn't disappoint. I got the mixed plate of meat (lamb, chicken, beef). All the meat was well spiced and particularly liked the beef. You get a good amount of food for the price. Came with salad, rice, naan and hummus. The restaurant was kinda quiet though (even though several people were in it) which isn't good or bad, depends what you want. Maybe it was the time we went (around 7pm). The customers there were all middle eastern (based on what language i could hear them speaking since the restaurant was so quiet!), so it's gotta be good right! Waitress was very nice and served us promptly. We'll be back!

  • *****

    I still love you, Ishtar!

The interior is still brightly lit and gets better each time I visit. They now have a huge, bright menu up that is easy to choose from. The food is still amazing and delicious. Having tried their hummus now, I can honestly say it's the best I've ever had. Their falafel is delicious, too. The Dolmah is tart and flavorful, and my new favorite is the Gyro platter. Their Gyro meat is just amazing, crunchy and flavorful on one side, tender on the other - just the way it should be. I visit this joint at least twice a month, usually calling in ahead of time so I can grab and go on my lunch break.

  • *****

Love this place! Wonderful food and friendly fast service.

  • *****

We go anytime we are down in Kent. Food is good, prices are good and the staff are very nice. Where can you get a gyro, fries, and large drink for $6.99?

  • *****

Don't let the outside fool you. Pretty good eats and reasonable prices to boot. Plenty of specials can be found to save you some cash. See us going back again!

  • *****

I don't give many 5* but I must say this is a rare find.
Like many reviewers before me don't let the outside fool (you or the in for that matter).
Came in because I had a groupon and I like a good gyro.

You have the option to get food to go or sit down. I was in no rush and decided to dine in. The waitress was friendly and quick.

So my goal of obtaining a gyro took a detour. When I got there and did my Yelp check in! My lovely app told me I get free baklava with an entree. Heck yeah I want some free Baklava!

Between my friend and I we planned out our food choices. She ended up getting the lamb kabab entree. Which for only like $9 you get a heck of a lot of food. You get the 2 skewers of lamb kabab plus hummus and pita bread a side salad and basamati rice! And ofcourse the free baklava!

I opted for the lamb kabab sandwich. (For only 4.99 and for $2 get a side of fries and a drink). I know I came for a gyro but the kabab sounded good. And I was not disappointed. I have had kababs before other places and I have to tell you they got the seasonings in this one. Other places barely can tell they seasoned. The kabab was flavorful with a nice little bit of char from the grill and not dry. Talk about good eats.

The basamati rice lacked a bit of flavor but eatting with the kabab and some hot chili paste made it alright.

I will return for that gyro! or Chicken swarshma which means I will have to make another trip.

  • *****

Stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is amazing! Everything was delicious, including the hummus, baba ghanouj, and dolmades. If you happen to be in Kent, this place is a MUST.

  • *****

Great restaurant. The food is delicious, servings aren't small and the price isn't too expensive. My only complaint is that it isn't close enough to my place.

  • *****

They never skimp on the lamb in their gyros. Their pita is big, home made, and is great with hummus or tabbouleh. The hummus has a gentle flavor. Service is friendly and fast. Delicious desserts.

  • *****

Definitely one of my favorite places. Will continue to go back! Especially now that there is a Groupon. Great friendly service and awesome gyros!

  • *****

Really good food at reasonable prices.

My favorites are the Greek Salad and the hummus with either pita or naan. My husband likes the lamb shawarma, mixed tikka kebab, and gyros. The rice is flavorful and all of the ingredients taste fresh. Even the fries(!) are crispy and light. We typically come for lunch. The portions are sized generously, so they are great for sharing. The dining room is casual & clean, the staff is usually friendly, and we leave feeling satisfied.

Happy to have stumbled across such a good place close to home. I think we've been there about half a dozen times in as many months and had a pleasant experience each time ;)

  • *****

This place is great! We have tried many Mediterranean places and its for sure in the top 3. Service is great, place is clean. Great lunch spot!

  • *****

I visit this place once a month, I usually order the gyro combo, which comes with fries and a large drink for $6.99. Portion sizes are decent and filling.

The only issue is the atmosphere and the neighborhood; this can discourage other people from trying their food. Give them a try!

  • *****

The food was good and the service was excellent. I had the gyros and fries. The gyro was loaded with meat and tomatoes and very good overall. I also ordered the appetizer comb to go for later. Everything was very good even though when you drive up to the place the exterior looks very run down and dirty.

  • *****

Haven't had anything except Gyro and it is excellent. Price is good too. Meat is so fresh and taste delicious. Service could be better, need to be little more welcoming. Overall nice place.

  • *****

There's very few times in life where you can order something off a visual menu and it be IDENTICAL to said picture. This place is so good I don't even know what to say. gyro-yes falafel-yes sambosas-gaaaahhh yesssss!!!

  • *****

My family and I usually frequent the Greek restaurant that's at the Renton landing and I'm not even going to lie I thought there cannot be any Greek food better than the Renton landing place. This is by far the best Greek food I have ever had! I am so happy that we have found this place we will be here very often I assure you!!!!!!

  • *****

Delicious, fresh, Iraqi....what more do you need to know, great music.....
"I'm eating in the name of Allah and with the blessing of Allah"
    Get the spicy chicken....

  • *****

Our food was very delicious ! ( I had the gyro) friendly waiters , nice and cozy . Food comes fast ,if you have no where to go to eat this would be a great place to go.

  • *****

We found Ishtar while passing by one day and tried it out. Great food and great prices! I really like the way they do their falafel's. Falafel's can be a hit or a miss depending on which restaurant you go to - some places are too dry, others are too soggy, and others do not have enough spice. Ishtar's falafel's are just right. We've only come here around lunch and there's usually plenty of seating and the service is pretty fast.

  • *****

I pass by Ishtar often on my drive home from work. I've heard many good things about this place so I was happy when my fianc suggested we try it for dinner. We ordered beef/lamb and chicken gyros with a side of fries. The gyros came out within a few minutes so we didn't have to wait long at all. They were delicious! Next time, I'll probably ask for more tzatziki sauce to go with my gyro, but it would still be tasty without the extra sauce.

I'm so glad that I live close by - I'll definitely be back to try other menu items.

  • *****

Came here for a gyro meal during my lunch break. You're typical gyro, good prices and lots of seating. Better to come here than the one at the Kent station, more bang for your buck

  • *****

We live a long way away, but ended up here with a quick decision on the fly using the Yelp app on my phone while driving north. They have Greek, plus all sorts of other Mediterranean food and everything we had was really good! My husband had the beef/lamb gyro ($4.99).....I tried a bite and both of us decided it was the best gyro we've had. Meat was delicious, with the tang of lamb and the depth of beef, and the other ingredients were fresh and tasty. I had the lentil soup ($2.99), which was amazing, plus the vegetable sambosas ($3.99), which were little fried pastries with veggies inside (or beef). The combination of those two made a nice lunch for me. Service was friendly (including help with choosing) and the price was quite reasonable. Though they are far from our house, we will be back!!!

  • *****

Lots of food for the money. It's definitely Mediterranean and Greek. It's very good with lots of variety. Menu has tons to choose from. Would return.

  • *****

    wow!

went in, warm greeting, really clean.

varying menu, lots of choices, we wanted gyros.

huge portions, large chunks of meat. really really good.

bill came- family of 4 was $30! great prices!

we will return, it was awesome.

  • *****

I am not a person to try and explore new foods but man I'm glad i did here the gyro was amazing and the flaffels were on point. I will definitely be returning

  • *****

This is a good place to eat in or take out. I hadn't been in in quite a while and it has a brighter look, new menu with a variety of middle eastern, Greek, Indian, and "American" foods.
Before I forget - the baklava is Excellent and I think maybe they make it there.
I had a grilled kebab platter (Iraqi kebab of fresh ground beef in a nice spicy sauce) with grilled vegetables, that came with a small salad and humus and pita. Plenty of food which all tasted fresh. The meat was tender and fresh, not dry, just prepared even though it was past 8 on a cold Sunday night. Modest price for the amount and quality.
I didn't have to wait long. There were also a few people eating in so I felt like this as a good place to know about being open a bit late.

  • *****

It had been a few years since I grabbed a bite at Ishtar and all I can say is consistency. Just as good two years ago as it was today. Vegetarian platter (no feta for my vegan ways) is top notch. The entire meal is under 10 bucks and I can't eat all of it, I wind up with lunch and dinner for 5 bucks a pop. Being super close to my job I can hop in the car, place my call in order on the way and it will be ready when I get there while still having plenty of time to get back to work and enjoy lunch in the break room at work with 30 mins to spare. I really like the freshness and quality of the food. Rivals my beloved and favorite San Diego Greek spot. Thanks for feeding me right Ishtar...you will see me several times per month!

  • *****

I just had the Gyros it was fantastic. The meat was incredibly flavorful juicy and a very large amount. The pita was delicious decent amount of lettuce and tomatoes. I wish the onions are chopped instead of long thin strands and there was more taziki sauce that would make this a five star. Overall for $4.99 it was one of the better Gyros I have had, can't wait to come back and try and more food. The service was friendly the restaurant was clean the menu on the TV screens with was colorful and easy to read you should definitely try this place.

  • *****

Love this place. Their gyros are always on point and prices are pretty decent. This is my husband and I to go place for some greek foodies. We crave for it at least twice a week. My only complaint is customer service, they need to loosen up a little. Lol Smile is the key to great customer service, otherwise o wouldve given a 5.

  • *****

I always enjoy their food and love to go there again and again. 5 star to thier service, food price, presentation and of course ti the delicious food. Everything is so good that i never had any regret about anything when i leave. Good job guys and keep it up the same quality of food and great service.

  • *****

    I love this place!

The hummus here is so fresh and flavorful. I've tried a couple things on the menu and never been disappointed. Definitely my favorite mediterranean place around and easily the best i've been to in a long time. Service is quick and friendly and very clean/comfortable. The interior is surprisingly roomy and very tasteful and relaxing, and the food is always AWESOME. I always have to order the kubba with potato instead of bulgar- its like a Shepherd's Pie ball full of herbs and spices and happiness.

Would recommend for fun, wholesome food that is quick and inexpensive.

  • *****

Stopped by here today, and I'm glad we did. Best gyro I've had since moving to the Seattle area. I've seen a few reviews say the gyro was small, but for us it was perfect sized. Price is good for what you get. The area is a little sketchy.

  • *****

I've driven by this place many times and decided to order take out on a whim via yelp.

We ordered a gyros dinner, gyros salad and a chicken shawarma. Everything was ready for pick-up promptly - within 10 minutes of my order in my case - and priced very reasonably. It also tasted really good! Portions were generous and the meat in particular was excellent. Ishtar is now our Mediterranean go to place in Kent.

  • *****

This place was delicious and the value for what you get is great! It's the kind of place you want to see succeed because the people are so friendly and the food is so good.

  • *****

We tried a little bit of everything. I could go on forever about how delicious and flavorful everything was. The hummus was hands down me favorite and the best I've ever had!

  • *****

It really good restaurants , delicious foods and good service thanks. This the only restaurant has sheesh kebab and Iraq style.

  • *****

I have driven by this place, but was never inclined to stop. However, I purchased a Groupon and went and was absolutely delighted! The place is very welcoming and the food is fantastic! I highly recommend the Babba Ganoush and the gyros. The chicken curry was great, too. Very, very pleased and plan to be back.

  • *****

Very family oriented which I love. And probably the cleanest place to eat in downtown Kent.
BEST GYROS I've had since moving here and fries are pretty bomb as well.
Even though its a bit pricey the lamb shank is delish (and I am not a fan of lamb)

  • *****

Vegetarian platter was excellent. The dolmas were hot and I have never had them heated before, it was excellent.

  • *****

in the food business, you live or die by whether your quality warrants repeat or even referral business.

We will return to Ishtar and we will tell our foodie friends about this jewel which has the best
dolmas that we have ever eaten.

For those of you who choose your restaurants by whether they are Architectural Digest candidates, you are missing the boat. Ishtar's repurposed A & W Root Beer drive in from a half century ago hits about midpoint on the scale between dowdy and frumpy, but so did Susan Boyle when she came onstage and then wowed the audience with her compelling voice.

We had the gyro sandwich and the gyro salad and they were fantastic, as was the okra soup, made with tiny, flavorful okra.

You must try the dolmas! When we finished we got a double order to go of the dolmas, and they are fantastic after a couple of days in the refrigerator.

This is a place for foodies, not architecture critics.

Unless you are a masochist, do not go there at noon. To savor your food and enjoy the comments of the other diners there, catch Ishtar in the middle of the afternoon, after the shoulder to shoulder crowds have gone back to work.

Did I mention the dolmas? Do not miss them!

  • *****

This place is super yummy! We came here late and had huge delicious portions served by a friendly server at low cost with super fast service. I would highly recommend coming hungry and order the beef and lamb gyro and the Greek salad. Save room for the baklava.

  • *****

Amazing food, Interior was clean really liked the aesthetics of the place, loved the menu graphics above the register. The gyro I had was huge, seasoned amazingly. I didn't get the fries. But I did get the Falafel and it was great as well. Would recommend checking it out.

  • *****

We love this place and we go there at least twice a month.. My daughter loves their Lulu Kabab. They are always clean and organized.

  • *****

The food is delicious and reasonably priced. I don't exactly love the location, but the people are friendly and the food does not disappoint so not a bad choice if craving some gyros or falafel!

  • *****

It's good food but the price was highly but still very nice place I'm very happy to find that place I will gives me recommended

  • *****

Took my family to dinner there.
Food was wonderful, service was outstanding!
Thank you - especially for the Baklava!

  • *****

I usually get the gyro plate that has the lamb and beef along with the rice, salad, hummus, and pita (?) bread. Everything is flavorful and meat is tender. I'm not a big fan of the bread... it's thin and dry! :(

  • *****

Always a great experience coming here for lunch or dinner, $10-$12 buy you a hell of a meal.

  • *****

I ABSOLUTELY love this restaurant!!!! I've been the Middle East and this is as close as it gets for the US!!!
I've been going for over a year and have my co-workers all hooked on it as well! The falafel with eggplant sandwich and veggie sandwiches are my favorite!!!
I highly recommend this place!! And, so what it's not a fancy place!!! That's what makes it more authentic and fabulous to me! I love family restaurants and not some fancy place you pay for the fancy atmosphere; where the prices are ridiculous and the food is crap!

  • *****

The food was delicious but the portion was smaller than expected and they forgot my pita bread in my to-go order, so make sure to check! It was an honest mistake I'm sure, they seemed pretty busy.

  • *****

Can't say enough about this place. My boyfriend has been going here since it first opened up and he got me hooked on it. We probably go in here as much as once a week. I could honestly recommend any dish here, but my favorites include the chicken shawarma wrap, chicken with cream, scalloped chicken, chicken tahini, baba ghannouj, hummus, kubba and samboussa. If you go here you NEED to get the greek fries, it compliments the sandwiches so well, and is very satisfying. They also have a large variety of vegetarian options for those who don't eat the meat ;) What are you doing still reading this review? Go to Ishtar and get your grub on!

  • *****

Food is really good with friendly service. The only reason I am not rating a five star is due to the location and the building is a little old. Kinda looks like a dive, but the food makes up for it. We will definitely come back.

  • *****

Bought a Groupon and decided to give it a try. I had never eaten Middle Eastern food - so I tried the Lamb Tikka. Super good. Big chunks of grilled lamb, and plenty of it. I have no idea what the spices were, but they were fantastic. My entree included rice, a delicious vinegar-y salad, fresh hummus and warm pita - all for 10.99 It was a ton of food - I brought home a generous portion that I'm looking forward to eating for lunch tomorrow. Husband had the Mixed Tikka platter. He enjoyed the lamb and chicken, the beef wasn't a personal favorite. Son had a Lamb Shawarma. 5.49 and they didn't skimp on the meat. He's picky, but he cheerfully ate the entire sandwich.

The restaurant is small and the parking lot is tricky - it started life years ago as an A&W. Another reviewer was rather snippy, if you ask me, regarding the "diverse" customers. The Kent valley is filled with sketchy people. Ishtar is not. International? Yes. Families? Yes. Nice people eating great food? Absolutely. The people were nice, the service was good, the restaurant was clean, the food was a great value and it tasted terrific. Definitely on my list of places to visit again.

  • *****

I love this place! I live in North Auburn so I end up exploring Kent food a lot and this place is one of my favorites. Food is always on-point, prices are reasonable, veggies are fresh, and the Groupon try have makes this place a slam dunk deal if you're ordering a lot. Desserts are awesome too!

  • *****

This place is awesome..Been going in here for more than 3 years food always good and fresh..

  • *****

the hummus is good! the lamb tikka dish is tasty! and the price, awesome! I'm glad they are located outside of Seattle which makes driving and parking hassle free.

  • *****

We first ended up here because my husband was craving some authentic Iraqi food, he was deployed there in 2008 and had some real authentic food there ,so trying to find a place around us that served authentic food was a bit hard. We live all the way out in puyallup so it is a bit of a drive but soooo worth it! Really tasty food, nice portions. Even our picky little ones enjoyed it!

I am a vegetarian and my husband practically a carnivore so this place is awesome at catering to both our unique diets.

  • *****

This restaurant has a lot to offer, from authentic delicious food to comfortable seating and an attractive looking male staff.

  • *****

I've introduced Ishtar to many people, my wife and I go to there regularly even though we live in federal way, and the reason is the food there tastes excellent, it's well prepared, and large portions for its respective low prices. We're not vegetarians, but this restaurant has a lot to offer for those who are; their lentil soup for example is the best. They rotate a lot of servers for a small seemingly a mom and pop type of operation, we've never been met with inadequate or poor service, on the contrary there's one young server in particular that's overly friendly in my opinion, but everyone I've gone there with and was served by her said she's very nice, i guess i just don't like having conversations with servers :)

Please disregard the negative reviews for this place. Those reviewers are nit picking things that should apply to restaurants that requires a reservation. This is a $2.5-7 restaurant, and unless the food is bad, there shouldn't be anything to complain about. Some of the ones I've read (negative reviews) just now are absolutely ridiculous. Since my wife and i have been here a few dozen times, and have always walked away happy and satisfied, it seems to us those poor reviews have more to do with the reviewer's unrealistic expectations and/or their attitude than the restaurant itself. They're expecting the world for a $5 meal, again ridiculous. I bet these are people that would complain about the dining area at a taco truck. You know, I can imagine no restaurant owner would want to explain the situation on yelp even when legitimately it's the customer's fault, it'll look only worse. So I'm harshly defending them because it's not fair for a gem of a place like this to get a few rotten eggs through their doors and have their ratings lowered.

My only complaint is there isn't an Ishtar restaurant in federal way. There's a gyro place in the Commons mall, but it's not as good as Ishtar. To owner, consider opening one in FW.

A couple of recommendations if you haven't tried this style of food: order dishes without the rice if possible, so you can order more different dishes a la carte to figure what you like on their menu. My wife and I are not fans of yellow rice, and we commonly notice other patrons finished plates with slightly or uneaten rice. After trying their beef/lamb kabob I've never left Ishtar without ordering it, try it and I'm sure neither would you.

Great job Ishtar staff and owner, many of us appreciate you guys, thank you.

  • *****

The food was delicious but the portion was smaller than expected and they forgot my pita bread in my to-go order.

The food here is 6 star. The service is great. Building is too small for how great the food is and how busy it gets here. Eat here once and you will be hooked. The hummus is SOOO Good!!!!!!

  • *****

Fast, good food & service. The flavor hasn't changed. I come here at least 4 times in a month.

  • *****

Great food. I had the Gyro with extra Tziki sauce. I couldn't eat all of it because it was filled with meat. Yum. I recommend this to everyone. I am hooked

Great prices, hot quality food, and big portions!

If you're looking for standard Greek food, this place is not it. But if you want tender chicken and rice or chunks of lamb skewered on top of light fluffy gyro bread, this is the place.

There are a lot of combos you can choose from through the menu, and pictures in case you're unsure of ordering. My go to at middle eastern restaurants is gyro or Schwarma, so my husband ordered chicken Schwarma plate and I ordered the assorted variety skewer platter.

Service is excellent. Attentive, kind, and patient. Even if the food was "just ok" I would go back here because of how we were treated.

Food was pretty good! - chicken was juicy! Gyros were seasoned perfectly. And the three cuts of meats from my sampler were mouth watering (lamb, beef, and chicken). Rice is addicting! The cucumber taziki sauce was my favorite! With the salad!

The only reason I'm giving them a 4 instead of a 5 is because my husband received a different type of hummus that was delicious, and mine was bitter and grainy. They have two choices and I wish I had known so I could have chosen the right one. Oh well another excuse to go back!

The first time I tried to go they were packed to the brim, which made me make sure that I tried to grab a table again just a few days later!

Definitely love their falafel! The size of the sandwich was filling and a good deal. They have a handful of other vegetarian options, most of which are similar. But let's be honest...you're probably here for the meat, which I'm sure is tasty.

The garlic fries were a bit disappointing. They were cooked really well, but "garlic fries" doesn't mean fires coated in a garlic mixture of some kind, it literally means fires with raw garlic and parsley thrown on the top.

All and all I like this place and I'll be back!

  • *****

Not all of the food is good, but overall better than any other Mediterranean restaurants. At least I don't get stomachache after eating their food.

  • *****

First time here and it definitely won't be the last! I came here craving a Gyro. I have some places I usually get my Gyro from, but heard good things about this place and wanted to check it out! When we arrived, there was no one. But, it was also 10:30AM. The gal was very sweet and attentive. I ordered a chicken gyro and made it a combo! I was expecting the chicken to be cooked a different way, instead it was shaved like the beef/lamb. It didn't have much flavor. I wished I would of asked for the grilled or regular chicken. I'm not sure what I would ask. The gyro had a lot of meat and it was so filling. So many gyro places don't give you a lot of meat. I think overall you can't beat the prices for these gyros! I will be back soon to try more. Also, try the Greek Fries! They were perfect and delicious.

  • *****

The food was good and a good change of pace. Next time I'm in Kent I'd like to stop by.

  • *****

The small details were what made this meal memorable. I love gyros, and these are the best I've had: tasty, and the texture was perfect. Not too mushy, not too dry, with wonderful crispy edges. The rice was fluffy and flavorful, the salad was crisp with the crunchiest Persian cucumbers I've ever had, and I loved the tzatziki, too! Real homemade taste.

My friend had the mixed kabob plate with chicken, beef, and lamb kabobs and all were equally delicious! Very reasonable prices for all that you get, service was warm, friendly and quick. Will only be in town for a couple days but I hope to eat here again!

  • *****

Excellent food. Extremely fresh. Price and service are perfect. If you are ever in this area and want a great, inexpensive meal this is the place.

  • *****

I loved the salad that they serve before your main dish, it was light and refreshing and so delicious and simple. Everything was tasty, although when the menu says spicy- they mean spicy. Service was slightly slow, but they had a huge table and we could be patient. I loved that it was different then other places in the area.

  • *****

Love this place, great food. People are very nice and helpful. Best place hands down. Prices are very reasonable

  • *****

Probably the best place for Gyros I've had in 120 miles radius. The thickness of the meat is amazing. For $4.99 it's definitely worth it!

  • *****

Delicious gyros and they are always so nice. Love coming here for dinner! I love how much is in the gyro side plate and they always give me extra gyro sauce which is a plus.

  • *****

best gyros in our area hands down. staff is friendly and helpful. recommend it to all gyros lovers in northwest :)

  • *****

I used the Yelp Eat 24 app. I ordered drove down and picked up my food and came home. Definitely the best Gyro Ive ate so far. It was flavorful and packed with meat. The fries were standard but decent.

  • *****

The food here is amazingly good. I have ordered takeout three times and everything is awesome. The lamb and beef kabob, gyro and hummus are the best I've had. The bubble tea was also great. I travel to Kent once a month and this is my new favorite place to eat. I'm looking forward to trying other items on the menus and eating here more often. The service is fast too and the prices very affordable. Keep it up Ishtar!

  • *****

I tried the gyro this time, and it was great. Lots of flavor in the meat, and the pita bread was fluffly and delicious.

The sides were another story. The rice was dry, and the fries (which we specifically asked about being "plain" or not) would've been a million times better without the seasoning that came on them. I really don't understand the trend of dumping Lawry's on the fries everywhere these days.

I'll probably come here again the next time I want a gyro; I'll just have to be more clear about not getting any seasoning on the fries.

  • *****

Really good Mediterranean food. The more I've explored the menu the more I've like. Good food/price ratio as well.

  • *****

The Gyros here are amazing. You can get Lamb, Beef or Chicken for only $4.99. Their french fries are made fresh to order and are thick and well-seasoned. Everything all around was just great, the pita, sauce and veggies. I got the lamb and it was the best gyro I've had in a long time. Highly recommend.

  • *****

    Cheap.Fast. Delicious!

So the setting is a bit sketchy but the food is AMAZING! You cannot beat the price anywhere.

I had a gyro and a lamb kebab. The gyro was yummy. Lamb kebab, mouth watering.

  • *****

Delicious! The food is great every time, service is not always the best, depends on the day and how busy they are, But the foods so good I don't mind. Everything I've tried here has always been amazing. They also have great boba drinks. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes Mediterranean food!

  • *****

As a belly dancer, I've eaten a LOT of "Mediterranean" food over the years, so I'm particular about it. Ishtar is pretty darn good.

The good: Gyro meat that's got that yummy crispy outside. Cut in thick slabs, not wimpy slices. Incredibly generous portions... one plate is good for two meals. Tsatziki with dill but not too much dill. Lamb kebabs well-seasoned. Creamy hummus. Super - fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions.

The okay-but-could-be-better: hummus could use a little more tahini for my taste. Pita was okay when first warmed but got stale-tasting/textured after it cooled. Lettuce had core pieces in it.

For the money, Ishtar is good value. Will return many times!

  • *****

I had the chicken tikka grilled entree for dinner to go. We also ordered an extra chicken kabob on the side, the chicken tikka was 10 x's more flavorful, so if you're debating between the two types of chicken, get the tikka. The rice was a little tough, the Pita was ok and the salad wasn't anything special. The hummus was good though, so if I order from there again, I'd just get the tikka chicken with a side of hummus to dip them in.

  • *****

Really good kabobs and the best falafels I've had in a while. Almost all the meal are right under 10 dollars.

  • *****

One of my favorite restaurants in the entire area. Never once had a single bad meal there.

Fantastic food, great service and their baklava is to die for. I had the beef kabobs, had them done medium well and tell you what they were just right! Will definitely be back very soon!!!

You won't find a better Greek Food Restaurant in Washington State, especially the Fish Fillet. Great Scott!!! The last time I had a fish fillet that good was twenty something years ago, back in my country, when we went into this eatery after a half-day shopping rendezvous in the biggest open air market in Africa. I have not come across fish so fresh, so delicious and with the quality of a home-cooked meal until I went to Ishtar. The price is insanely fair. Place has a family atmosphere and the waiters are quick on their feet. Only reason why I didn't give it a whole 5 star, despite my boyfriend wanting me to - he celebrated a birthday there in March (turning down a trip to the space needle) is because the waiters tend sometimes.. not all the time but sometimes.. not be there to see who came in before whom and take orders from the person sitting nearest to the register. That can upset some people like yours truly who would like to see justice and fairness reign on earth. Alas.... the food is definitely worth every.freaking.minute you spent waiting.

Can't wait to go get some fillet - for the 3rd time this month. Call me hooked to the bone!

    Cheers.

This is the best kept secret in Seattle. We were visiting from California and stopped by late one evening. Saif was very helpful and explained the menu for us. The food was top notch and very tasty. Also the dinner portions are huge. I have the book marked for the next time I am in Seattle.

  • *****

We ordered hummus and salad plates, which complemented the chicken entree well. The atmosphere is cozy and trendy. Food is good and on par with most Mediterranean joints but still tastes authentic. Service can be a bit slow but the staff is polite. Love their little hookah hut across from  the restaurant.

I have never done a online review before but feel compelled to after the experience my wife and myself had at Ishtar this last weekend. First to put this in perspective my wife and myself were on one of our weekend road trips and were looking for lunch. I had my wife pipe in Greek Food in her phone to locate a place for lunch. The closest was Ishtar less than a mile away, We had never been there before but we love trying new restaurants and I love Greek food, it fit the bill, upon arrival I must say nothing on the outside prepared me for the experience we were about to face on the inside. Now keep in mind I am not Greek, have never been to Greece and have no idea what authentic Greek food taste like, but I can tell you that I have tried every Greek restaurant I can find from southern Oregon to western Washington and this was "BY FAR" the best we have had the pleasure of enjoying to date!! The service was excellent but most of all the food was 1st class. As my belly will tell you I am a food concierge and I can not wait to go back to Ishtar this comming weekend!!! So to make a long story short for great service and outstanding food, give Ishtar a try, you wont be disappointed...

We had 16 people in our party and the staff at Ishtar knocked it out of the park for us. They even went so far as to plate my brother's gluten free chocolate cake with a drizzle of chocolate sauce. The food, as usual, was a delight. Our table ordered dolma, a gyro plate and a vegetarian plate. All quite delicious. The pita, although probably store bought as noted in a previous review, was nice and thin for ripping apart and dipping into their very mild hummus and baba ganoush (both perfect for first time taste testers of Mediterranean cuisine). The falafel was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside as it should be and when dipped in tzatziki, scrumptious. We'll surely be back for another lunch or dinner, and maybe even try the outdoor Hookah bar.

Tried Ishtar's today and am so happy I did. We had gyros, beef shawarma, beef / lamb kabob and rice. Everything was perfectly cooked and flavorful. My whole family enjoyed their meal. Cant wait to try the Lulu kabob next.

$4.99 sandwich today and it is delicious! The place was packed and they were super nice!

Very friendly staff. We ordered entrees which had a nice presentation, fresh taste and quick service. The food must be traditional as many appeared to be Middle Eastern.

  • *****

So delicious!! We dined as a family & the kids loved it too! The menu with pictures is a genius idea! Great service, place was busy.  Servers were available and attentive.  Sambosa was to die for.  Hummus- delicious.  Chicken shawarma- YUm. I could keep going on & on.  Can't wait to go back and taste more!! Thanks

Yum. Best Greek and lamb around. I love this place. Definitely not a black tie place but order the lamb and you won't be disappointed!

  • *****

Omg....this is my second time here but first time trying the Falafel. It's heavenly, hands down the best in south king county. Best value for lunch in the area. I have never gotten bad food at this place and they have expanded the menu. Now that I work and live in this area I will be coming back more often. Yum!

Good food, good service! Great chicken shwarma. This family run business is great! I eat here every time I'm in Kent.

  • *****

This place is great. The food is always fresh and full of flavor and they are very accommodating with substitutions.

We have eaten there and taken it to go.  It's a great value. The entrees are so filling. The only thing my husband complains about after is being too full.

  • *****

Good stuff there! I have had the gyro, veggie plate and gyro plate. The place seems kinda sketchy at night. So it's best to go during the day. Lol

I lived in Saudi Arabia for 3 years, this is as close to Middle Eastern flavors as you're going to get. Trust me, I've been searching for years all down the West Coast with no luck.

Fav plates - Lamb Shank and the grilled chicken.

  • *****

Large selection of menu items,  great taste, huge portions, with very reasonable prices. Staff was gracious, and friendly. Our server also made sure our special requests were handled perfectly.

:-O uThe highlighted reviews were very accurate. The shwarma sandwich was very good with nice soft pita bread. The Greek gyro salad has as lot of meat on it and is tasty. The pita that comes with that is the dryer, thinner kind and not great on it's own, but much better if you get some hummus with it. Their hummus variety is mild and very smooth and creamy. I like mine with a little more garlic and lemon but with the bread it was actually pretty good.
Total bill for 3 main dishes and a side of hummus was $34 (no drinks).  Very quick service and much nicer inside than out, as on other reviews.
We will come back when in the area.

Pretty good food. Absolutely amazing rice with the gyro plate. My lady had the lulu kabob and that was awesome. And I swear to god the babaganoush was the best I've ever had. I will be going back. Thats for keeping the food great and simple.

  • *****

Ordered a little bit of everything......all was great....only reason I gave it a 4 rating was because the lamb was overcooked.

  • *****

This place is the real deal. Decided to get takeout there last night because I was in the area, and I was not disappointed. I'm from the middle east, so I'm picky about my middle eastern food. Their kabobs were juicy. Everything was seasoned authentically. They use real pita bread, not that stuff you find in a regular grocery store. I saw some indian-inspired things on the menu (Like chicken Tikka), and though I haven't tried them, I probably wouldn't get them. The owners appear to be Arab (Iraqi?), so I would stick to Arab menu items. I had lamb kabob, beef sambusa and eggplant salad, all were wonderful. I wish I lived closer to I could come by more often.

  • *****

GREAT food! Perfect prices! My only complaint was the server wasn't very attentive at all.. There were 3 couples in the restaurant and it took about 15 mins to get our order placed, once our food came we had to go up to the counter to ask for our naan (I got a hummus plate).

  • *****

Ugh best cheap Greek food if you are a college student or tight on money. I always get a gyro sandwich and make it a combo and it's only $6.99. The combo includes sandwich, fries and a choice of drink. That's a deal to me if I don't say so myself. :) so good!

  • *****

The guy is absolutely the sweetest.  He's always ready with a smile.

Everything I've tried from gyros to shawarma to smabosas has been awesome.

If you still haven't tried it, what are you waiting for?

  • *****

I almost never give out 5 star ratings because, frankly, most places don't seem to care about what they are serving. It seems like something changed here, as the menu is larger than during my last visit, and while that is usually a bad sign, here it's the opposite. I tried one of the newer items, a spicy chicken tikka plate with a lamb tikka addition, and everything was just amazing. The hummus was somewhat garlicky, but not too much and just the right consistency. The pita bread was a definate improvement from the cold naan they used to serve. The pilaf rice was fluffy and fresh, the meats were juicy, cooked just right and were expertly spiced and their tzatziki is the bomb. If you like Mediterranean or Arabic cuisine, run here ASAP! What I had wasn't food, it was heaven on a plate.

  • *****

Great Gyro for a good price. Ishtar certainly exceeds the "Kent Standard" of chain restaurants with lame food.

I'm not an expert on Mediterranean food - but I do know extra tzatziki sauce can make all the difference!

    Nice people too...although very quiet/shy.

  • *****

    Best. Falafel. Ever.

  • *****

This place use to be a drive in restaurant a long time ago. I think it was an A&W. Lately I've wanted to make it a point to try new Mediterranean restaurants. I pass by this place quite a bit and I finally decided to try it out. I was greeted right away with a smile. I ordered the gyro mean and baklava. The gyro was on the smaller side but yet pretty tasty. This was my first time trying baklava. I thought I would've liked it more than I did. I don't think it was the restaurant I just think I don't care for the dessert in general.

Good Greek food in Kent? YES.

A family member of mines let me know about this place. I had no idea it even existed prior to his great knowledge.

This place is located just off of I-5 in Kent along central ave. I came here not expecting much, as my standards for Greek food or way high considering the quality food I've experienced at Vios Cafe in Seattle.

The dish that is worth your money is their $6.99 gyro meal. You get a huge gyro, fries, and a drink. Consider yourself loaded with goodness. Who cares what it has on it, all you need to know is it that it is good. But if you must, it has lamb on it.

Service is speedy and friendly. The place looks beat down because it used to be a drive in fast food joint, but if you let that hold you back from missing out, then you deserve to not eat at this place.

    I'll be back.

My Husband & I went here a few weeks ago for the first time and it was amazing! I was a little skeptical but the look of the place but I am we went. The staff was really nice and we got a lot for what we paid for. We had the veggie samosas as an appitizer and the were very flavorful. I got the gyro plate with came with a large portion beef and lamb with rice & a side salad plus hummus with pita. My husband got a banana and I formally hate anything banana but this was delisous, I almost drank half of it! Definatly a new favourite place of ours.

Love their falafel!!!  Hummus is also excellent..although not a fan of their pita bread.

Staff is very friendly.  Location is sketchy but food is worth the trip.

We stopped by Ishtar as we were looking for something with great ratings to eat around Kent area. We came across Ishtar and my friend automatically recognized that this place used to be an old burger joint.

We decided to check this place out and were not disappointed at all. The portion of their food was generous. They had free pitas/dips (in place of bread), too. The waitresses were a little slow (but to be fair, among just 2-3 waitresses, they were doing their best taking care of all the tables and all the walk-ins for to go orders), but they were also super polite, too.

We got a plate of lamb kebab and beef sambousa along with sodas and were not disappointed. The lamb (although took quite long to finish) was grilled to perfection! It was super tasty. Sambousa had the right mix of spice in the ground beef and wasn't too oily or overwhelming at all. The salad was definitely generous!

On top of that, we also got free baklava with any entree order when you check in on Yelp! The baklava was yummy but not too sweet! and Oh...prices were just right..about $8-$15 each!

Went to Ishtar for my first time today.  Parking is interesting because it used to be a drive up type restaurant.  I wouldn't recommend parking on the side right next to Willis as it could be a bit difficult to get our, instead I would recommend parking on the north side of the building.

I ordered the Gyro(classic) with greek fries(served with feta and parsley). This came with a free drink and totaled $8.74. Not bad for a filling lunch.  I was unaware that the parsley came on the fries and unless you love parsley would order them without because there was a LOT on there.  The greek fries are a bit more expensive than the regular fries which come with the "meal" but I felt it was worth it.  Usually $4.99 for a gyro plus $2.00 for fries and a drink.  Mine was $4.99 for the gyro and $2.99 for the fries, but they included the drink still so a $0.00 difference.

I ordered to go and my order was ready within the 10 minutes that they told me.

I would recomend this place and will be going back.

This former Kent A&W Storefront hides a pleasant surprise. Being big Gyro and Mediterranean food fans, we had driven by here a couple times but had not stopped in until the other night - mostly because of the location in said former A&W.  This isn't your average fast food-style Gyro Restaurant.  The food is especially tasty, fresh, and prices are quite reasonable; e.g. for roughly $20, you can get a gyro, kebab dinner plate and appetizer.  Customer service is excellent, friendly and fast. As another reviewer noted, we felt more like guests than patrons. Let's just say this little enterprise really has something going for it and we hope they find themselves expanding their business and location/s one day.  We'll be back regularly.

After a so-so greek salad we were treated to a delicious plate of kubbas and sambousas, the sambousas were flavored well and crispy. Then the lamb shank came out and it was wonderful. The rice was delicate and the meat was tender and spiced well. The soup/broth matched well with the rice and lamb - it was a delight!

  • *****

Very good gyros. I haven't tried anything else from here though. It was really tasty.

Always good always fresh veggies they use! Have been here 3-4 times now and will always come back. Sadly, I am moving out of the area in a few weeks up to Seattle. If ever in this area again and craving middle eastern/Greek, I know where to go! Always friendly staff and more than accommodating! Garlic fries are great! Gyros are good! Lamb is excellent! I can't complain!

The food was great, the price was fair and people there are friendly.  For sure I will go back again.

food is good 99% of the time, we've had a problem with the chicken being too dry, but with as often as we're there, that's a pretty good track record :-)

service has been more of a problem, about 10% of the time we get slow service, and servers who just don't care, or who treat us significantly different then they do customers of a different ethnic background.  another 10% service is slow, or they confuse themselves and between two servers both assume the other is taking care of you.  The owners do tend to be around and take care of things rather quickly if they think something's wrong though, which is nice.  portions are big, food is pretty good, babaganush is outstanding, as is the hummus.  also, best Gyro I've found in the area.  I'd give them a 5 if the service was consistently good instead of so all over.

If you tried this place back when they first opened (like I did) and didn't like it, you should go back, the menu is different now then it was on my first visit (it includes pictures to show what you're ordering if you're not familiar with the items)

I called Ishtar to cater our Sunday football party . With a house full of hungry family. I counted on Ishtar to make a great impression. The food was delivered and showed up on time. There were three types of meat ( the lamb was my favorite) hummus bread several types of salad. The food was a huge hit with my hungry guest. Great tasting food delivered on time. Great Job Ishtar!!! I would definatley recommend This place for catering.

The Joint isn't bad. Portions could be bigger but its cool. Come here for my falafel fix.

Hands down best falafel I've had in my life. Friendly service. Not too expensive. My family tried the gyros (I don't eat meat) and said they were all superb. Fries are even delicious and seasoned well. Very yummy side dishes and salads as well. Will be a repeat happy customer! Glad this is in our local neighborhood.

I've only ever ordered takeout from here and it's delicious all of the time. I usually call ahead so my order is ready to go when I get there, but even on the occasions I didn't call ahead, the wait isn't any longer than 7-10 minutes.

I always order either their gyros, falafel or gyro plate (comes with rice, humus, salad and pita bread) - all are delicious. Haven't tried anything else.

Oh, and if you check in on yelp, you get a free slice of baklava with any entree purchase!

After reading the reviews I decided to buy a Groupon and go have dinner. The place was pretty clean. The service was a little slow. My potato kabba was kinda salty but it would have been prefect. My kid enjoyed it. I ordered the chicken takka and my hummus came out first and it was delicious with the naan. I loved the spicy hot sauce they had. I wish my rice wasnt so dry but the flavor was great. My daughter did not like it though. My grilled chicken was juicy and cooked pretty much prefect. Loved the fresh salad with dressing. My daughter ate all my cheese off top lol. Anyways I will be back and soon because i'm already craving it  again. Delicious!

The food is always good! i usually get hummus for an appetizer. Then order the gyro special after. The atmosphere isnt that great, but the food is pretty good! Oh and they have plenty of parking! I'll be back.

The portions were good, In fact this is the first time I felt full after eating at a mediterranean place. Their babaganoush could use a little bit more tang but it's just my personal preference. Their falafels were amazing. Hummus was good and their greek salad was tasty.

The wait staff was very friendly. The service was prompt. But the highlight of the dinner was their hot sauce.... it was very very very tasty. I ordered an extra pita just so I can eat more of that sauce. By the time I left, the bottle was half empty. If for nothing else, this place is worth it just for that hot sauce.

Had a groupon I have been wanting to use here. Went for lunch today and omg....delicious! They were very pleasant and polite people working there. The portions were generous, reasonably priced and the food was just delicious! I had the gyro lunch special which is a gyro, fries and a soda for $6.99
Will definitely be back here for lunch again!!

Went here one night last week with some colleagues...at first we were uncertain as the restaurant is located in an old A&W (I think).  However, once inside, it is casual and the diners were all regionally authentic which to me indicated that we were about to get some good food.

The food did not disappoint.  We tried a number of appetizers and entrees...all of which were fresh and well prepared.  I had the falafel plate...maybe the best falafel I have ever had.  The service, while not flawless, was nice and attentive.

I will definately be back and encourage you to try.

That Mexican took me here twice. The experience has always been the same. The food was good. The wait was not. I really hope that they would improve the customer service then they would be excellent.

I'm surprised that there aren't any reviews for this place yet. If you like simple Mediterranean food, come here! The food is inexpensive but very delicious. Service is awesome, the waitress was very polite and patient since it was my first time there! If you're ever craving a gyro or shwarma, check this place out.

• • • I have never done a online review before but feel compelled to after the experience my wife and myself had at Ishtar this last weekend. I've never experienced real Mediterranean & Greek food until i came here. at first i only went for the gyros but everything there is soo fresh and amazing

HALAL BURGERS!!!! They have garlic fries and greek fries to go with.... I've been here about 3 times in the past week and a half since I've discovered the place and the whole family loves the food. If you've ever traveled abroad their Schwarmas are the closest I've had since I went overseas 25 years ago. Great food, friendly staff, normal pricing, a true mix of patrons. Try the Lamb Schawarma its really good.
